1 Sateen Finish
A finish to imitate satins. It is glossy, with as much lustre as possible and with a fairly crisp feel. The goods are usually starched, then dried on the tins, damped, and glazed on the calender. -
2 Imperial Sateen
See Lambskin. A very heavy sateen fabric with a raised finish and used for many underclothing styles, especially in Canada, Australia, etc. Woven in 5-shaft sateen weave weft face, about 66 ends and 144 picks per inch, 18's T., 18's soft spun cotton weft. -

6 Beaver (Castor)
An overcoating cloth with one face sheared, heavily milled and nap-raised finish. It has a soft handle, and made of fine-grade wool as an imitation of beaver's fur. Now used for making hats, uniforms, etc. Two warps and two wefts are used of good quality wool. The weave is the 4-end sateen, two face and one back picks. A cloth woven 100-in, would be finished to about 56-in. wide. The finishing process is a special one, and the fabric shrunk considerably during finishing in both width and length. Many imitations have a cotton warp and shoddy weft. -
7 Imperials
A heavy cotton fabric of the fustian class, woven from yams and an 8-end sateen base, 2 up, 6 down. Generally dyed and raised on the face. The picks are usually 3 to 5 times the number of warp ends. A standard make is 54-in. 102 yards, 64 ends and 214 picks per inch, 2/20's T., 22's W., 102-lb., soft finish. Sometimes called Imperial Satin. -

French dress fabric made of cotton or silk warp and wool weft of the same colour forming a weft sateen. Fulled finish.
